About the Blog
Who writes Cole's Corner and Creations?
I'm Cole — a stay-at-home mom who loves to sew, bake, and play with my kids. I started this blog to share my sewing projects, tutorials, and the things I'm making for my family.
What kinds of projects do you share?
You'll find children's clothing, doll clothes (especially American Girl doll projects), costumes, quilts, embroidery, appliqué, home décor, and the occasional recipe. I sew for my daughters Lucy and Ella, my son William, and for our home.
How can I follow along?
You can subscribe by email to get new posts delivered to your inbox. I also share updates on the Cole's Creations Facebook page, and there's a Flickr group where readers share their own projects.
About My Patterns
Do you design your own sewing patterns?
Yes! I created a line of patterns under the Cole's Corner and Creations Patterns label. Some of my designs include the Sabrina Skinny Pants, the Hi Low Ruffle Skirt, the Too Cute Bias Tank Top, and the Too Cute Ruched Shorts.
Where can I find your patterns?
My patterns were available through my Craftsy pattern store and my Etsy shop. I also regularly sew with and review patterns from brands like Made for Mermaids, Patterns for Pirates, Jalie, and Kwik Sew.
Do you host sew-a-longs?
I have! In March 2016 I hosted the Sabrina Skinny Pants Sew-a-Long, guiding readers through the pattern day by day. Sew-a-longs are a fun way to sew together as a community — everyone shares progress and tips along the way.
About My Sewing Process
What sewing machine do you use?
I sew on a standard home sewing machine. The most important thing is finding a machine you're comfortable with — fancy equipment isn't necessary to make beautiful things.
Where do you get your fabric?
I've sourced fabric from many places over the years. I used to shop at Hancock Fabrics before they closed, and I love digging into my Granny's basement stash for vintage finds. Fabric choice is one of my favorite parts of any project.
Do you have tips for beginners?
My Tutorials page is a great place to start — especially the Tuesday's Tips series, which covers techniques like making bias tape, appliqué on ready-to-wear t-shirts, and sewing with knits. Take it one project at a time and don't be afraid to make mistakes!
